Team Oldham Values Assembly

Image
Every two weeks the Year 6 team get together and celebrate our learning. Each Values assembly we  recognise the Active Learner of the fortnight. This is a child who displays the many wonderful qualities of an active learner, including, being organised, focused, able to clearly discuss their learning, ask questions, support others, act on feedback given, set goals and achieve them, reflect on their learning and show a positive growth mindset. Each term, the team also focus on two values - in Term 1 we are firstly focusing on being self-regulated learners.  We are looking specifically for children who are showing great responsibility with their learning in the classroom. They are organised, quick to settle to their tasks and are completing their work to a high standard and on time. In Week 4, it was a pleasure to award the following students from our class. Active Learner Award: Shanti Gover Self-Regulated Learners: Abby Morris and Leon Dromer.

Mahi Tahi - Learning Buddy Class

Image
As part of our Inquiry this term, the room 21 children are becoming 'teachers' and will be supporting a buddy in Year 3. After initially creating a survey to find out about their buddy, how they learn and what they need help with, we met them today - so exciting! Now that we have loads of information, we will start planning our first lesson based on their needs ready for next Tuesday. Check out these pics below of some of us getting to know our buddies.

Maths - Individual Statistical Investigations

Image
As we have been focusing on Statistics these past few weeks, the children are now conducting their own statistical investigations. The children have thought of questions they would like to fin more information about, such as, what is your favourite type of book genre, how long do you spend on homework each night, how much pocket money do you earn in a week, or a physical challenge (100m, distance you can throw a shotput). Today the children continued to collect their data and this week they will organsie that data, graph it, analyse it and draw conclusions from it. They will present their findings in a presentation style of their choice. It is really exciting to see all the children so engaged and so motivated in this learning challenge.
