Room 21 MVS 2018

As part of our Inquiry this term we are lucky enough to be having some specialised learning sessions with Mr Gover. He has been teaching us how to use Adobe Premier Elements to edit videos.  We will use this knowledge to make our own advertisements for products / services and play on MVTV later in the term!  So exciting!  Check out the photos below of us working on our editing :)

Last week it was wonderful to be able to support our buddies in Year 3 with their speeches. We went through the criteria of their speech and gave them feedback and feed forward to improve their persuasive speeches. Today, we were able to visit and support them with their Inquiry. Room 32 are looking at making their own arcade games. We sat with them today and started working on how they were going to collect some market research to help them. We discussed with them the types of questions they could ask people to find out what type of game people would like to play. It was lovely to wander around and listen to the conversations the children were having in their inquiry groups. Below are some of the photos of us working together....

This past week and a half we have been looking at maps. We have been learning about compass directions, scales and coordinates. The best part of our learning was putting all our new knowledge into creating our own magical land map. We had to think of a variety of 'lands' and place them accurately on our map. We then identified coordinates for those 'lands'. Each land was designated a certain amount of points. Our goal was to create a path and collect as many points as we could in a certain amount of moves. Once our map and path was completed we got to swap it with a buddy and challenge them to beat their score. These photos below show us working together on our maps.

We can hardly believe that it is Term 4 already and that in just 9 weeks time we'll almost be  Intermediate students!! We have such an exciting term ahead of us. I am sure the sun is going to start shining more regularly which will be fantastic for our Summer Sports PE Programme.  I wonder if one of the Room 21 teams can win the Syndicate Sports competition this term? Our Reading Programme this term will focus on inferring the text, understanding the author's purpose and analysing. In Writing, we are looking forward to looking at persuasive texts (and linking this with our inquiry) and putting on our imaginative hats and writing some exciting narratives! In Maths, we will be looking at number initially and towards the end of the term we will look at Geometry. Camp, of course, is going to be the biggest highlight of our term.  Thanks to everyone in our class for returning both medical and health forms - you're so organised!  Remember camp is 14-16 November at MERC
